"paper crown" number 24
“paper crown” number 24

I have been on a bit of a roll with my “party girl” series.  Usually I will have a few canvases going at a time.  When I’m working on my party girl portraits it becomes hard to stop at one because they are so much fun to paint.  I typically name my imaginary sitter or focus on some kind of accessory to get my story straight as I paint … I always have a story behind each painting.  So this painting is called “paper crown” – the kind you get in the UK when you open a Christmas cracker during the holidays.  We always would wear them no matter how goofy we looked.  To me, they always said “celebration”.
