Vintage

I was on a treasure hunt with my sister, Chrissie, and came across these wonderful vintage ceiling tins. I just had to have them and so I did - but they just sat in my studio as I tried to figure out what I was going to do with them. Somehow I felt that if I married my art with the tins that I would really have something that would give me that “vintage-modern” vibe that I love so much. With the help of my neighborhood hardware store, I was able to figure out how to work the tin and reproduce my original art on it! I loved the look and so did many people who have since bought my vintage tins as gifts or for their own walls.

One of the beauties of the tin art is the age and patina of the individual tins. Many of these tins are 80 to 100 years old and show their age just beautifully. All tins are covered with a flat varnish to protect and contain the paint chips that give the tins and the art such character. Each art tin becomes an original piece of art because no two tins are alike. I carefully choose each tin, cut them, hammer them, place the art and string them up. It is truly a labor of love - from sourcing the tins to working with them in my studio. I hope you find them as beautiful as I do ...
