Back in the studio and painting additional party girl portraits that will go up for sale in my shop this week.  I am beginning to put original works in my shop now that I’ve finally had the chance to catch up with photographing some of my artwork and writing up their descriptions.  Truth be told, it takes awhile to let go of some pieces because a part of me is entwined in their stories or the stories that I’ve created for them. Each of them comes to life with encounters that I’ve had with real people that have staying power in my memory bank and bits of their personality find their way to each piece.

I love watching them take shape and come to life through their eyes first – that is pretty much where I start, and then the rest unfolds with smears and flicks of paint. Even I am surprised at who emerges at the end.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy making them. Each of my party girl portraits are painted on stretched canvas and are either 5×5 or 6×6 in size.  All of them come ready to hang on the wall and because they are between 1.75 and 2.25 inches in depth, they can sit proudly on a bookshelf or stand.  I give these as gifts to the women in my life who are celebrating milestone birthdays or events because who wouldn’t want a little piece of original art to grace their interiors?  But each of these party girl portraits can also be made into prints in the event that the original got away from you.

I hope that my website feels like a thoughtful gesture; like a handwritten note, a shared recipe accompanied by a jar of something homemade or like a perfectly wrapped gift
