“gathered corals” by Ellen Kelley McHale

Just getting back into the studio after all the hustle and bustle of the holidays and I’ve got some new work to show for it.  I’ve been in a flowery state of mind these past couple months so I thought it would be cool to start off the New Year with a new large floral – something serene but still fresh with a little kick of color.  This is “Gathered Corals” and I must admit, that I’m a little bit in love with this one.  I’m digging how the vessel is quiet and soft and seems lit from within and the casual way the flowers seem to be plopped into the jar so they shake up the simple surroundings just enough.

“deconstructed floral” by Ellen Kelley McHale

This year, I’m adding original works on paper into the mix.  I like the readiness of paper or the accessibility of it in that I can paint quickly onto my stash of heavy watercolor papers when the mood strikes.  The above was my first work of the New Year.  It is called “Deconstructed Floral” an abstract floral arrangement if you will. I love how ethereal it feels – just a hint of a floral with delicious soft colors floating off the page.

Happy New Year and see you soon,

Ellen

I hope that my website feels like a thoughtful gesture; like a handwritten note, a shared recipe accompanied by a jar of something homemade or like a perfectly wrapped gift

I’m a little in love with it too Val and yes it is for sale. My web-guru (and your’s) is putting it up in the art shop today. I will have the proper link to it later this morning. Sorry to have my timing off a bit. Thanks for the love – I appreciate it. xo

Thank you Chris – you last saw it when it was still incomplete and I was mulling over how I wanted to finish it. I got a burst of inspiration and finally pulled it all together. See you in Rye this weekend. xo
