a bird’s eye view (of my painting) EKM

I recently finished a new painting inspired by the unseasonably warm weather we were experiencing these past couple weeks.  Walking around town without a jacket in February seemed weird and wonderful at the same time.  There was a part of me that just couldn’t relax into the comfort of a 70 degree day. A jaded New Englander by trade, I was waiting for Mother Nature to drop a foot or more of snow on me or maybe a flying house like something out of the Wizard of Oz. That just might be the reason why my new bird art has the vibe of the “flying monkeys’ from the imagination of L. Frank Baum.

ETA-waiting for the arrival of Spring” by Ellen Kelley McHale

Right now, it feels like a March day – cold and crisp –  and I am longing for that magical warmth that dropped down from the sky like a house from Kansas just only a week ago.  I put the finishing touches on this painting the other day and am calling this “ETA – waiting for the arrival of Spring“. Next time summer weather presents itself, I’m going to relax right into it and go with the flow.

see you soon,

I hope that my website feels like a thoughtful gesture; like a handwritten note, a shared recipe accompanied by a jar of something homemade or like a perfectly wrapped gift

Oh, so cute, El! Love it! I’m expecting South Jersey to come through with a “real” spring as opposed to the Massachusetts version this year!!

Ha! South Jersey shouldn’t disappoint you Maur. I think you just might enjoy the early show of flowers and sunshine that New Jersey seems to bring. They don’t call it the Garden State for nothing! xo
