Amy, Matthew and Ellen on the antiquing trail

Last week, I had a great day out on the antique trail with two of my all time favorite decorating peeps: Matthew Mead and Amy Chalmers.  Many of you know Matthew for his gorgeous photography, books and countless magazines and I know there are a good many followers of Amy Chalmers of Maison Decor blog as well as fans (like me) of her former Maison Decor shops in our neck of the woods here in Massachusetts.  We three decided to combat the post holiday blues with a little antiquing and a lot of laughs. We met up in Peabody, MA at The Mills at Pulaski – a huge warehouse filled with antique and vintage finds covering multiple floors and vendors.  Matthew and I arrived late and found ourselves lost in the backstairwell thinking that we might never been seen or heard from again … but eventually we found our way to Amy who was waiting patiently for us up on the third floor.  There is an amazing amount of finds to sort through – almost anything that you can imagine from garden statuary to industrial to fine antiques or mid century mod.  Plenty of vintage and plenty of great ideas abound.  Each of us came away with a souvenir “find” and a new place to return to again and again.

I hope that my website feels like a thoughtful gesture; like a handwritten note, a shared recipe accompanied by a jar of something homemade or like a perfectly wrapped gift
